Immediate Changes to Pitney Bowes GeC Services

As announced 8/08/24, Pitney Bowes sold a controlling interest in their Global Ecommerce (GeC) (Newgistics) division..

Dear Valued Customer,  

As announced 8/08/24, Pitney Bowes sold a controlling interest in their Global Ecommerce (GeC) (Newgistics) division to Hilco Global who will be shutting the GeC business down sooner than expected. Pitney Bowes noted that the GeC business will continue operating for a short period to afford customers a little time to transition to other services. However, as part of the announcement, Pitney Bowes noted that the GeC services will be unavailable starting next week, ahead of the anticipated August 28, 2024 date.  

The two GeC (Newgistics) services offered by FirstMile are Parcel Select (Xparcel Label 10) and Newgistics Returns. To help mitigate potential disruptions, please take special note of the deadlines noted below for each GeC (Newgistics) service as they are being shut down and will no longer be supported after the dates noted below:  

Parcel Select (Xparcel Label 10) Service

  • Final Day to Print Labels: Parcel Select (Xparcel Label 10) will be turned off and no longer available at 8 pm EDT on Tuesday August 13, 2024.  
  • Final Day to Tender Parcels: All outstanding Xparcel Label 10 parcels must be physically picked up and tendered to FirstMile no later than Wednesday, August 14, 2024 to provide sufficient time for these parcels to move through the GeC network prior to it’s closing.
  • Parcel Select (Xparcel Label 10) Tendered After August 14, 2024: To help maintain the continuity of our service to you, all Xparcel Label 10 parcels presented to FirstMile after Wednesday, August 14, 2024 will be overlabeled to USPS Ground Advantage and charged at the standard Ground Advantage Commercial rate.

Newgistics Returns Service

  • Final Day to Print Return Labels: Access to call for Newgistics Return Labels from the FirstMile API will be turned off at 8 pm EDT on Tuesday August 13, 2024. This means that Newgistics Return labels will no longer be available to generate after Tuesday, August 13, 2024.
  • The Consumer’s Deadline to Present Returns to USPS: All Return labels generated, whether already physically printed or not by the consumer, must be physically presented to the US Postal Service (USPS) no later than Thursday, August 29, 2024. This means the last day for a Newgistics return label to be physically put in the mail is Thursday, August 29, 2024.
  • Returns Presented to USPS After August 29, 2024: Newgistics Return parcels not presented to USPS by August 29, 2024 run the risk of not being returned to your location by the shutdown date of Return Services on Thursday, September 5, 2024. This means any Return parcel that doesn’t make it to a GeC facility by September 5, 2024, will not be provided to FirstMile to reach its final return destination.
  • Returns Not Received from USPS by September 5, 2024: After this date, it will be FirstMile’s Customer’s responsibility to retrieve and collect from USPS any remaining Negistics Returns parcels still moving through the USPS network.

As a valued customer of FirstMile, we are working hard to make this transition as seamless as possible for our customers. For our customers using our Xparcel services with other national carriers enabled, we will simply remove Parcel Select (Xparcel Label 10) from your Xparcel setups and parcels called for through Xparcel will be inducted into the next lowest-cost option. Please make sure your logistics team members are made aware of the Wednesday, August 14 deadline to get all Parcel Selext (Xparcel Label 10) tendered to FirstMile.

For FirstMile customers using Pitney Bowes GEC as their only or primary service, a FirstMile Sales Representative will be reaching out with an alternative solution to maintain the service level needed at the most economic rate available.
